Meet The Founder

As Founder & Chief Inspirational Officer of Positive Fabulous Women™, I am often asked as to what prompted me to start this group. The answer involves sharing much of my life story – so here it goes!

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to travel extensively around the world and in fact have lived in three different continents. Experiencing different cultures early on provided me with the unique opportunity to relate to a wide variety of people from various backgrounds and steps of life. This experience really shaped who I am today and helped me to develop a keen interest in people in general; how they operate, what makes them tick and what keeps them going.

While excitement and world travel has provided me with the curiousity and drive to succeed, the same can be said for my personal struggles. The true essence of life isn’t where it takes you but what you do with it when you are there — and I have certainly taken every life experience by the horns. The end of my marriage in 2002 prompted me to re-assess my life as I knew it. I began a personal journey of soul-searching and exploration trying to figure out who I really was and which direction I wanted my life to take. After an 18-year career in the publishing industry – working in Marketing Communications, Project Management, and Business Development, I had this deep longing to leave the corporate world and align my personality and purpose to do something that I was passionate about, something that would make a difference in the world – all while giving me the flexibility to care for my two young children. After much reflection, I had this revelation that I was a “connector” — yet it took me a while longer to figure how I would apply that in my life.

Despite my strong business background, I launched Positive Fabulous Women™ in January of 2008 with no business plan, very little market research and minimal financial investment. At that point, it was very much a calling to create a space for like-minded women to come together and share their skills, experiences & resources. I embraced social media and applied all my people, business and technical skills to grow and develop this amazing network. The journey hasn’t been an easy, but one that I’ve enjoyed and learned tremendously from.

Today, PFW is one of the fastest-growing women’s groups in Canada. We are focused on two main areas: business/entrepreneurship and personal growth. We strongly believe in developing community and therefore run weekly live events in Toronto that are energizing & inspiring and fun!

Like many women, I am often juggling my career, two boys and personal needs to create a sense of balance in my life, but I feel truly blessed to have discovered my true calling and am eternally grateful for the amazing opportunity to make a difference in other women’s lives. I am deeply passionate about the infinite possibilities for PFW and remain committed to being a conduit for connection, inspiration and positive change on this planet.
