Sophia has been immersed in the world of alternative health care since the age of 15, but it wasn’t until after attaining her degrees in Music and Drama that she began an intensive study of energy healing. Soon after, a local Chinese herbalist was referring his patients to her. Sophia prefers the healing systems of BEAM Therapy, EFT, Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Aromatherapy and Guided Imagery to heal emotional wounds, lift blockages and help people feel better in every way. [Travel] Dreaming of Tuscany
December 20, 2010 by Master-User
Dreaming of Tuscany comes easy, the rolling vineyards dripping with luscious grapes at harvest time. The silvery green olive groves are forever begging you for a wander through their sweet smelling pastures. Tuscany offers many, some of the most scrumptious gastronomy in the world. Italian cuisine is created on the philosophy of keeping it effortless, fresh, perfectly prepared, and always tempting. Let us not forget the lovely and very passionate Italian people, constantly with a glimmer in their eye and a smile on their faces. You are family when you come to visit. Get ready to experience the birthplace of the beloved Chianti wines and the Super Tuscan wines, a destination like no other, picture perfect Tuscany. Discover the original four Chianti villages in the heart of Tuscany, Gaiole, Radda, Castellina and Greve. These small villages will capture your soul and incite you to visit and explore.
Gaiole In Chianti
Enchanting comes to mind when you walk the cobblestone streets of Gaiole in Chianti. Flower boxes hanging from the window sills overflow with bursting colours. With a population of just over 2500 this sleepy village offers a quiet solace for anyone looking for peace and quiet. The shops feature some of the best wine in the world; Chianti Classico. Browse through the various shops offering beautiful pottery and yummy homemade specialties. Recently voted by Forbes Magazine as” Europe’s Most Idyllic Places to Live”, the locals are surprised. This is where they live, work and play, just a simple place they call home. Visitors wanting a true Tuscan feel must experience Castello Di Meleto, a 900 year old castle steeped in history and intrigue, a unique piece of heaven just outside Gaiole. Surrounded with vineyards and olive groves you will be inspired and dazzled-(www.castellomeleto.it). Your local hosts; Penny, Gabriella, Frederica and Viola will welcome you with a smile; their expertise will create an unforgettable experience. One other castle which holds ages of history is the Brolio Castle. Be sure to take a tour of this mystical place. It offers you some of the best views of the region from its high walls. It is home to the creator of the Chianti blend, Bettino Ricasoli (-www.ricasoli.it). Just outside Gaiole enjoy the flaming spaghetti or Florentine steak at one of the best restaurants in the Chianti area; “Le Contrade”. Chef Sylvan’s creative flair and attention to authentic ingredients and dishes attracts “foodies”, from all over the world- reservations are a must. (www.ristorantichianti.it). For a more rustic Tuscan meal of grilled meats and vegetables you must try out Osteria Le Braci- reservations again a must (www.sandonatoinperano.it).
Radda in Chianti
Only a few kilometres from Gaiole, Radda is one of the oldest villages in Chianti dating back to Etruscan times in the 6th century BC later taken over by the Romans. The centre of town featuring the town hall, reconstructed in the 1700 after being destroyed in 1478. You can observe the coats of arms from the various families covering the outside facade of the building, some dating back to the 15th centuries. As you walk up the main street you pass ivy-covered walls of stone, shutters of different colors cover some of the windows. It is wash day, multi colored clothing hang from the window sills adding oddly to the quaintness of the village.
This stunning little village includes a number of restaurants, (www ristorantelevigne.it), bars, two first-class hotels, small boutiques selling linens, wine, ceramics, terracotta and unique delectable’s. If you love shoes be sure to also check out the Pratesi shoe outlet, incredible deals. You are in the Chianti wine region. There are many “Enotecas” offering wine tastings. This is also the region of the black rooster, “Gallo Nero”, and he is everywhere in Chianti. The legend dates back 700 years and will ultimately determine the border. To solve a border dispute between the Florentines and the Sienese that had resulted in many wars the church decided that a rider from each city would race to a spot to determine the boundary of the city states. The Florentines heard the Sienese had the best horse and rider so they decided to cheat. Riders would leave when the rooster crowed at dawn so the Florentines passed by the rooster with candles to fool him, he crowed and off they went. The Sienese heard about the cheating and went to war again. Nobody blamed the Florentines they blamed the rooster! So you see him as black on the Chianti labels. And recalls the rivalry of Siena and Florence.
Whenever we go to Radda we are always sure to check out the local Marcelleria (grocery shop) a family run business offering a wonderful array of fresh meats, wild boar sausages and salami, local cheeses, breads and of course, wine. Radda offers the perfect place to gather up the local delectable’s, setting up a picnic spot and taking in all the fascination of the area with the astounding views.
Castellina in Chianti
This striking village sits high on a Tuscan hill, surrounded by her lovely terraced vineyards and olive groves. The air is sweet. A 15th century fortress overlooks the city, keeping watch over the city hall and an Etruscan museum, housing some incredible local finds. Take time to stroll along the main street. A friendly Tuscan village, market day is Saturday morning. This is time to mingle amongst the locals, enjoy a wild boar sandwich, and salty olive. There are some wonderful deals to be had. Be sure to watch for a local herbal farmer who shares his unique combinations of organic dried herbs in easy to travel little jars. There are many shops offering a wide range of goods made from the superbly grained olive woods. Do not miss walking along the Via delle Volte behind the main street, here is where the world renowned photographer “Andrea Rontini” features his astonishing works of art (www.andrearontini.it) capturing the glorious Tuscany we love.
Greve in Chianti
This picturesque small town is named after the river that runs through it, Val di Greve. Greve is home to the Franciscan monastery dating back to the 15th century. This little town was also home to the famous explorer who discovered the New York harbour,”Verranzzano”. His statue dominates the triangular main piazza of Giacomo Matteotti. This is the place of the original markets dating back 500 years. The main piazza is surrounded by charming medieval buildings, walking from shop to shop under the covered porticos you are bound to find some special delights. The ceramic shops will impress and enthuse you with their uniqueness and traditional take on Tuscan ware (www.ceramica-geometrie.com). This is also the home to one of the oldest butcher shops offering cinghiale (wild boar) and many other Tuscan delicacies, the Macelleria Falorni. Drop in and have the shop make you a custom sandwich with their fresh breads and mouthwatering cheeses. Last, but certainly not least, uncork a magnificent bottle of Chianti and breathe in its rich aromas and tastes. This is what Tuscany is all about! Life continues….
Savor the lovely Chianti villages. Tuscany has worked so hard to create some of the best culinary and wine delights of the world. One o f the most gorgeous places on earth, Chianti region has so much to offer, always leaving you yearning to return.(www.turismo.intoscana.it).

Befriending Confusion
May 4, 2010 by Master-User
By Jeff Brown
Moving forward often demands that we live lost, knowingly surrendering our attachment to who we think we are, voluntarily stumbling around in the dark with little to guide us. Growing is all about leaps into the seeming unknown.
If there was one skill that I could not have done without on my spiritual journey, it was my learned capacity to befriend my confusion. As old ways of being died off, new ways of being invariably came to life. Before the transition was complete, there was a time, often a long time, when all of these parts were pressing up against me at the same time. In “Soulshaping,” I refer to this in-between phase as a “spiritual emergingcy” — a state of confusion and inner tumult that arises when a new pathway is forcing its way into consciousness, prior to its full emergence and integration. The bridge from one side to the other is confusion. You have to learn how to hold the space for all of your parts and befriend your confusion, until clarity emerges on its own terms.
Unfortunately, befriending our confusion is difficult to hold to in a linear world. Those that walk the path of uncertainty are frequently characterized as flakes, drifters, and, ironically, lost souls. Nowhere in society are we taught to distinguish aimless from growth-full confusion, madness from truth aches, nervous breakdowns from nervous breakthroughs, habitual crisis from spiritual emergingcies. Confusion is sadly stigmatized as the mark of the “loser” without regard for the fact that one cannot come to know anything without first surrendering to the not knowing.
Our state of confusion often arises in the context of careers and relationships: Why do I hate my job? What are my callings? How do I really feel about this relationship? We develop a truth ache- a sense of internal dissonance about our path, a crying out for another direction.
Sadly, when we begin questioning our choices, resistant voices often float to the surface — voices of habit and fear, internalized judgments, well-entrenched defenses. Although progress has been made on many levels, most of us are still making our primary choices as to path through a survivalist lens, with a vigilant eye to what is most practical, safe and materially satisfying.
When we step out of this framework, when we make a move toward a more soulful idea of success, we open the door to confusion, at least at first. The voices of the world arise within us in an effort to sweep away the whispers of a deeper truth. The desire to quit our unfulfilling job and find our callings is met with neurotic images of poverty. The longing to find a genuine soul-mate is overwhelmed with images of eternal aloneness. We are then confronted with a choice — turn back to familiar harbors, or let the inner battle wage on. Play it safe, or see it through…
If we don’t see it through, we risk all manner of difficulty. What ultimately holds us back is our resistance to bringing our truth ache into consciousness. Although sometimes painful, although it may well force us to turn our habitual patterns upside down, the truth-ache contains the seeds of our transformation. When we repress it, truth decay sets in, and the only thing that can save us is a truth canal. Sometimes we wait too long, and we lose our truth altogether.
Seeing it through is no easy feat. You will need support. You will need to work hard to identify the voices that are attempting to obstruct your transition. They will come in many difficult and credible forms, often disguised as your friends. You will have to patiently expand your capacity to sit in the “not knowing” in ways that nobody ever taught you. And you may even have to hold to a state that feels a little mad now and then, as different aspects of your inner world come into conflict.
But if you can see it all the way through, you will be rewarded. You will know a measure of soul-satisfaction that you will never know on a false path. You will see through different eyes and feel at peace in your soul-skin. You will not have to ask the universe for what you need because the door to humanifestation will open wide as the universe rewards you for your courage. You will know a remarkably enriched reality.
A former criminal lawyer and psychotherapist, Jeff Brown is the author of “Soulshaping: A Journey of Self-Creation,” recently published by North Atlantic Books. Endorsed by authors Elizabeth Lesser and Ram Dass , “Soulshaping” is Brown’s autobiography — an inner travelogue of his journey from archetypal male warrior to a more surrendered path. The Art of Pole & Chair Dancing (Apr 8)
April 5, 2010 by Master-User
It’s time to spice up your fitness routine!
There’s no better way to get fit than to find fun fabulous ways to incorporate naturally feminine movement into your weekly routine. We are delighted to be heading to Aradia Fitness for a fun & spicy evening to learn the art of pole & chair dancing!
We will start our evening off with a sensual warm up designed to get the hips swinging and body temperature rising. Heat things up further with a lesson into the art of sensual movement. We then tie our movements together into an earth-shattering chair dance routine that will leave everyone feeling exhilarated and breathless. Then we will TAKE IT TO THE POLES where we learn how to dance, spin and twirl on the pole, finishing off an unforgettable pole dancing routine!
Not quite sure you’re ready for this? Please read on…
What can I expect to do at the class?
We will start with a gentle warm up, followed by a lesson in sensual movement, chair dancing and pole dancing.
I’m a bit shy, can I still participate?
Absolutely! Our classes are designed for beginners. Everyone feels shy at first but we’ll make you feel comfortable in no time. Our classes are not about getting it right. So long as you are willing to have a laugh and try something new, you will definitely enjoy yourself.
Who are your instructors?
All of our instructors are regular women like you with regular day jobs that have been trained by the Aradia Fitness Franchise to offer the best quality party instruction.
What should I wear?
Most groups just wear what they are going out in later that night. Be sure to wear clothes that you can easily move in. Short skirts can create a challenge since you will be constantly focused on pulling your skirt down. If you opt to bring a change of clothes, yoga wear is a great option. However, keep in mind that you will only have about 5 minutes to change afterwards so you’ll want to bring clothes that are easy to change in and out of.
Date & Time: Thur April 8th 8:10-9:10pm; please arrive by 8pm to sign your fitness waiver.
